Queens Park Wedding: Jeff & Monique

Monique & Jeff got married on July 2nd in Queens Park in New Westminster. Monique had written some guest posts on our blog as she was planning her wedding. Check “bride blogger” under categories if you’d like to read the posts. My assistant/second shooter for the day, Laura, and I arrived at the groom’s sister’s house where the boys were getting ready only to find out that they weren’t there. We were there early, so they weren’t expecting us yet. Twenty minutes later they arrived after they finished a round of golf in the morning. The guys always have much more time to have some fun in the morning, while the girls are always up early and taking hours to get ready. Somehow that doesn’t seem fair
After we grabbed some shots of the groom and his groomsmen we went to Hadden House Bed & Breakfast where the girls were preparing for the big day. When we arrived all the bridesmaids were dressed and the room was better organized than I’d ever seen before! Being a perfectionist, Monique had it all planned out into detail and she was right on schedule throughout the day. After a beautiful ceremony in the Rose Garden at Queens Park in New Westminster, we spent some time with them and their wedding party taking photos at the petting zoo and surrounding park. When we had all the photos we needed Monique and Jeff really wanted to spend a couple of minutes alone to enjoy each other’s company before the reception, so that’s what they did. I think it’s important that a couple can have a little bit of quiet time when they want it. A wedding can be quite hectic, but it is good to slow down to soak it all in!

Brittany & Darryl: Engaged {Lake Cowichan Wedding Photographer}

I always love to come up with ideas for engagement sessions that really say something about the couple. When Brittany told me that they both loved camping and that there was a campground on the lake that had special memories for them I immediately knew we had to do something with that. It was so fun to hang out with this couple and work with them to create images that really reflect them as a couple.

Rachel & Mark: Engaged {Duncan Wedding Photographer}

I am so excited to capture this couple’s wedding! Rachel is the daughter of the youth ministry’s leader at our church and she got engaged to her finance Mark just a few short weeks ago. They only have 2.5 months to plan their September 17th wedding, which sounds ambitious, but I am sure it can be done! I am sure it will be a wonderful day with an outdoor ceremony and a vintage-themed reception. I can’t wait Here are some favourites of their engagement session.

Amanda & Hayden: Engaged {Pender Island Wedding Photographer}

Only 2 more months before Amanda & Hayden will be tying the know at Poet’s Cove Resort on Pender Island. Neither myself or Jan have been to Pender, so I can’t wait to see what it is like. I am sure it will be stunning! This couple has been together for about 9 years, which is a very long time. Amanda must have been so thrilled when he proposed to her in May of 2010 when they were travelling in China!

Lorieann & Josh: Engaged {Parksville Wedding Photographer}

Earlier this week I met up with Lorieann & Josh in Nanaimo. She’s a heavy-duty mechanic and he’s a welder and they live in Fort McMurray where he was born and raised. The day before the session Lorieann emailed me that when they had been at a music festival where she received a black eye from the crowd. Thankfully, a makeup artist from Maffeo Salon was able to cover it up completely! You couldn’t tell at all! I can’t wait for their wedding in a couple of weeks! I am sure it’ll be a lot of fun.

Brittney & Rohann: Engaged {Duncan Wedding Photographer}

Brittney & Rohann met in grade 9, and started dating a year after they graduated in 2008. They separated for about 18 months while she attended college and he worked. In September last year they eventually got back together. Brittney didn’t have to wait long for the proposal, which happened on November 4th, knowing that they were ready to be together and start their life together. They are both Christians and I love how they have committed to staying pure. It is quite something that they are waiting to share their first kiss as husband and wife!
They told me that they loved old rustic buildings and antiques, so when I told them about the Butter Church in Duncan they were all over it. So that’s what we did for their engagement session.

Rebecca & Josh: Engaged {Victoria Wedding Photographer}

Rebecca & Josh are both from Victoria, but live in Vancouver where she works as a PE teacher and he as an accountant. Their wedding is coming up in a couple of weeks and they will be getting married on the beach in Parksville. When we started talking about what ideas they had in terms of photos, Rebecca told us that one of their hobbies is flying, so that’s when we suggested to do their engagement session at the Aviation Museum in Sidney. What a great spot! I hope you like these favourites from their session!

Fay & Gregor: Engaged {Nanaimo Wedding Photographer}

After talking on the phone and through email numerous time, it was great to finally meet this sweet couple for their engagement session!
She lives in Montreal and he in Nanaimo. After they met online and decided they wanted to see each other she flew down to Nanaimo where they had their first date in the harbour at a fish & chips shop. Of course, we went back there for a couple of shots We also shot at Morrell Lake, which is such a beautiful and peaceful location. Enjoy these favourites from their session.

Amber & Shane: Engaged {Victoria Wedding Photographer}

It had already been a year ago since I met with Amber to chat about their wedding, so I was excited to see her again and meet her fiance for their engagement session last week. Amber & Shane are getting married on Canada Day, which is just five weeks away! They had organized everything far enough in advance that there is not much more to stress about at this point, which is great. For their engagement session we went to the beach, which is literally steps away from their home. It was quite overcast, but I actually prefer that over a bright sunny day anyway

This last shot was taken just after this little boat almost flipped over. I love Amber’s laugh!
