Wedding Eiko & Chris {Victoria Wedding Photographer}

Jan and I were married on a beautiful day in October, and Eiko & Chris definitely lucked out with a gorgeous day as well! The weather is just as unpredictable during the summer as it is in the fall, so why not choose a fall wedding? This creative couple chose Hatley Castle as their wedding venue, and I have to say, that this is probably one of the most stunning wedding locations that you can find on the Island. So full of character, and warmth. Their Victorian decorations made the impact even more dramatic. You’ll see what I mean when you see the images!
But what can you expect from a talented couple like Eiko & Chris? She is a gifted musician who composes music for films, video games, etc. Her music played throughout the reception, and it was evident that this girl is extremely talented. She didn’t say exactly how many instruments she plays, but when Chris told me that she plays several string instruments, brass instruments, the flute, the piano, etc, I couldn’t believe it. Isn’t that amazing? He is quite the artist himself… he does special effects in movies, more specifically he draws monsters and his latest project was the blockbuster Thor. It’s his childhood dream come true.
Eiko & Chris, it was great to be part of your day! I loved seeing how your families from Japan and Australia all came together to celebrate with you and to get to know each other. I hope that your love for each other grows stronger every day!

Alix Goolden Wedding: Shane & Amber

What a fun couple these two! As I was selecting the images from their day I just couldn’t help laughing about the images that Jan took of the groomsmen. I won’t divulge too much, but I can say guns, motorbikes, rings down the drain, and then I am not even touching the surface. Most of them are not appropriate to share, so you’ll just have to believe me when I say that they had a lot of fun. I also loved seeing Shane barely keeping it dry as he saw his beautiful bride appearing in the doorway of the Alix Goolden Music Conservatory. Shane saw how her veil caught the light in a way that she almost appeared angelic. Amber looked absolutely stunning!
They didn’t plan their wedding on a Saturday like most couples, but instead they got married on Canada Day! They got engaged during the Vancouver Olympics and her ring boasts a Canadian diamond. And when Amber asked Shane which date he thought would be a great wedding day, he said Canada Day. So that’s what happened. They got married on Canada’s birthday. The red and white was incorporated into everything. Her white dress with red Roberto Vianni pumps, the red ties and white vests for the boys, red roses for the bride and white calla lilies for the bridesmaids. And guess what kind of wedding cake they had… red velvet, of course! Their cake was made by an old college friend from Amber and it was really, really good! Oh if only I could eat cake every day
Snoop & Bambi, we loved being there on your wedding day and capturing all those beautiful moments. We hope you guys are having a wonderful honeymoon and we can’t wait to show you the rest of your photos!

I always love to come up with ideas for engagement sessions that really say something about the couple. When Brittany told me that they both loved camping and that there was a campground on the lake that had special memories for them I immediately knew we had to do something with that. It was so fun to hang out with this couple and work with them to create images that really reflect them as a couple.

Rachel & Mark: Engaged {Duncan Wedding Photographer}

I am so excited to capture this couple’s wedding! Rachel is the daughter of the youth ministry’s leader at our church and she got engaged to her finance Mark just a few short weeks ago. They only have 2.5 months to plan their September 17th wedding, which sounds ambitious, but I am sure it can be done! I am sure it will be a wonderful day with an outdoor ceremony and a vintage-themed reception. I can’t wait Here are some favourites of their engagement session.

Amanda & Hayden: Engaged {Pender Island Wedding Photographer}

Only 2 more months before Amanda & Hayden will be tying the know at Poet’s Cove Resort on Pender Island. Neither myself or Jan have been to Pender, so I can’t wait to see what it is like. I am sure it will be stunning! This couple has been together for about 9 years, which is a very long time. Amanda must have been so thrilled when he proposed to her in May of 2010 when they were travelling in China!

Lorieann & Josh: Engaged {Parksville Wedding Photographer}

Earlier this week I met up with Lorieann & Josh in Nanaimo. She’s a heavy-duty mechanic and he’s a welder and they live in Fort McMurray where he was born and raised. The day before the session Lorieann emailed me that when they had been at a music festival where she received a black eye from the crowd. Thankfully, a makeup artist from Maffeo Salon was able to cover it up completely! You couldn’t tell at all! I can’t wait for their wedding in a couple of weeks! I am sure it’ll be a lot of fun.

Brittney & Rohann: Engaged {Duncan Wedding Photographer}

Brittney & Rohann met in grade 9, and started dating a year after they graduated in 2008. They separated for about 18 months while she attended college and he worked. In September last year they eventually got back together. Brittney didn’t have to wait long for the proposal, which happened on November 4th, knowing that they were ready to be together and start their life together. They are both Christians and I love how they have committed to staying pure. It is quite something that they are waiting to share their first kiss as husband and wife!
They told me that they loved old rustic buildings and antiques, so when I told them about the Butter Church in Duncan they were all over it. So that’s what we did for their engagement session.

Rebecca & Josh: Engaged {Victoria Wedding Photographer}

Rebecca & Josh are both from Victoria, but live in Vancouver where she works as a PE teacher and he as an accountant. Their wedding is coming up in a couple of weeks and they will be getting married on the beach in Parksville. When we started talking about what ideas they had in terms of photos, Rebecca told us that one of their hobbies is flying, so that’s when we suggested to do their engagement session at the Aviation Museum in Sidney. What a great spot! I hope you like these favourites from their session!

Fay & Gregor: Engaged {Nanaimo Wedding Photographer}

After talking on the phone and through email numerous time, it was great to finally meet this sweet couple for their engagement session!
She lives in Montreal and he in Nanaimo. After they met online and decided they wanted to see each other she flew down to Nanaimo where they had their first date in the harbour at a fish & chips shop. Of course, we went back there for a couple of shots We also shot at Morrell Lake, which is such a beautiful and peaceful location. Enjoy these favourites from their session.
